Biography

Eduard Ionel Stan is an Assistant Professor (RTD/A) at the University of Milano-Bicocca, specializing in formal methods, symbolic AI, and their integration with deep learning. He holds a PhD in Mathematics (excellent cum laude) and an MSc and BSc in Computer Science (cum laude). Currently, Eduard is contributing to the AdvaNced Technologies for HumancentrEd Medicine (ANTHEM) project, where he is currently conducting a systematic literature review on telemonitoring and wearable healthcare devices, aiming to advance proximity medicine through innovative technology.

Eduard’s research explores how formal logic can enhance the interpretability of AI systems, with a growing interest in synergizing reasoning and perception by combining logic with deep learning. His investigation of neuro-symbolic AI is driven by a profound curiosity about how these fields can be integrated to push the frontiers of explainable and trustworthy AI, especially in healthcare.
