Biography

Mario Avolio is a Research Fellow at the Imaging and Vision Laboratory (IVL) within the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication (DISCo) at the University of Milano-Bicocca. His research activities fall within the scientific-disciplinary sector of Computer Science (SSD INF/01), with a particular focus on the study and implementation of efficient image super-resolution algorithms.

Mario holds an M.S. in Computer Science (cum laude) from the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he specialized in Self-Supervised Learning and Model Adaptation for Facial Attribute Classification. His academic journey also includes a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Calabria, during which he developed BrainyBot, a robotic system for autonomous mobile game solving.

His research interests cover a wide range of topics in computer vision, image and video processing, deep learning, and artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on image enhancement, adaptive algorithms, and high-quality image reconstruction techniques. At IVL, his work is dedicated to developing state-of-the-art Deep Learning models for super-resolution applications, enhancing the quality of low-resolution images through efficient computational approaches.

Mario has contributed to the field through research publications on hybrid AI techniques and knowledge representation in intelligent systems. He is proficient in Python, R, Java, C++, and MATLAB, with expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. His technical skills extend to robot localization & mapping and advanced AI-driven vision systems.
